Architectural Photography Los Angeles

About Ed Carreon, Architctural Photographer

Ed Carreon is a Los Angeles Architectural Photographer specializing in capturing the design, structure, and atmosphere of buildings and interiors across Southern California.

With over 30 years of professional photography experience across corporate photography and industrial photography, I bring a documentary-trained eye to the built environment, creating images that communicate both design intent and the human experience within a space. Whether I’m photographing a modern workplace, a university campus, a healthcare facility, a retail storefront, or a private residence, my goal is the same: to honor the architect’s vision and deliver images that inspire and elevate my client’s brand.

My interest in architecture began with early experiences inside Mexican colonial churches, where soaring Gothic ceilings created awe and community. Later, photographing natural landscapes—canyons, mountains, and caves—deepened my appreciation for the way light transforms space.

I draw inspiration from the masters of design such as Antoni Gaudí, Frank Lloyd Wright, Mies van der Rohe, Renzo Piano, and Frank Gehry. Their work taught me to see buildings as living landscapes—places designed not only for form and function but also for emotion, movement, and culture. This philosophy guides my architectural photography in Los Angeles: I don’t just record structures; I tell the story of the space and the people who inhabit it.

Approach to Architectural Photography

Light is central to my process. If a building is designed to highlight natural daylight, I photograph in a way that enhances and preserves that quality. When artificial lighting defines a design, I balance it thoughtfully in capture and post-production. My goal is always to stay faithful to the architect’s vision while making the space visually compelling for marketing and storytelling.

I aim to reveal not only the technical details—the materials, lines, and textures—but also the feeling of a place. The result is a portfolio of images that reflects both the precision of architecture and the human experience within it.
