Healthcare Photography Experience
When I do any photography assignment that involves story telling I am informed by my time working as a photojournalist for the NY Times, Fortune, Forbes, National Geographic, Los Angeles Times, etc.
These skills have served me well in the commercial world, but they are moderated by production sensibilities that most photojournalists do not have.
There was always a formula for coverage of any story. A wide photograph, a medium photograph of a critical moment, and then there were detail images. Marketing companies love these images because they are versatile and are not dated, so they have a long lifespan. They also make great portfolio pieces.
I try to make sure they have strong compositions, graphic impact, and have a narrative value in context to the healthcare photography assignment. This is second nature to me now, so I don’t have to think about it. I just see.
Healthcare photography assignments are one of my favorite genres of photography because they are usually target-rich, and if the healthcare client is large, then a lot of effort goes into the design of the lab or facilities, including really good light.
