Los Angeles Interior Architectural Photography
This is part of an architectural photography project shot for Deloitte, Los Angeles.
They wanted to show off the redesign of their Inglewood offices. They asked me to photograph the office interior’s key features, including meeting rooms, lobby, office area, communal areas, and workstations.
Gensler designed the firm’s Inglewood office to focus on interconnectivity and community, so they wanted me to shoot each area with and without people. The challenge was to craft architectural photographs while including people going about their business.
During the project, we worked with a multi-office team from Deloitte and Glensler who did the interior design of their Inglewood office space.
The client wanted the Inglewood stadium to show in the background of the architectural imagery but it was an overcast day and the background was just gray and muddy so we let the windows blow out, though it appeared very bright inside; almost as if there was a sunny day outside.
For this image, we set, we shot a few versions with and without people and arranged the desks and chairs to show off the original intent of Gensler the interior designer.
One of the challenges in interior design photography is to minimize or eliminate glare on glass walls and windows so the design of the interior space shows through.
In this case, there was glare on the glass wall from the windows obscuring the interior space of the meeting room on the left. Architects and interior designers want to show off their work and expect the architectural photographer to handle glare issues.
To resolve this we used a large piece of foam core to block the glare from the windows and then, shot plates for each section that were later assembled in Photoshop.
I kept a little bit of glare to show there was a glass wall.
